At Life High School Waxahachie, students in the REACH class are brewing up delicious drinks and baked goods while learning vital life skills. Kaitlyn Rodriguez, a special education teacher, and Haleigh Boyce, a REACH teacher, formed the Java Dreams coffee shop with help from a grant provided by the Life School Education Foundation (LSEF). The LSEF supports Life School and its mission by providing funds for the Dr. Tom Wilson Scholarship, Legacy Club Scholarship, and classroom teacher grants.

In 2022, school districts across the country found themselves reeling from a loss of qualified teachers in the classroom. No school model—whether a traditional ISD, charter school, or private school—was immune to the post-COVID loss of teaching talent as seasoned veterans retired and the rate of new teachers slowed. Many districts are still clawing their way back today. For a few bold innovators, it was an opportunity to lead.

Over the past decade, areas in southern Dallas and Ellis counties have seen significant population growth. As populations swell, cities recognize the need to build new schools to serve the families who live there. To address the urgent need without adding to the local tax burden, cities often welcome public charter schools.

Dear Life School Parents, Students, Fans, and Community,

The Life School Athletic Program is a proud supporter of The Texas Way. This initiative is a collaborative campaign between the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA), Texas High School Athletic Directors Association (THSADA), and 2Words Character Development. The goal is to enhance sportsmanship at UIL events across the state. Life School Game Expectations

To ensure a positive and respectful environment at our athletic events, we ask all fans and spectators to adhere to the following guidelines:

• Always demonstrate respectful and appropriate behavior to coaches, players, officials and opposing fans. 
• Please refrain from coaching or giving instructions to players during the game.
• Fans and spectators are not allowed on the sidelines, track, gym floor, bench, or dugout area during athletic events.
• Any discrepancies in score or time will be handled by officials, coaches, or administrators.
• Please refrain from approaching the scorers table.
• No standing on the fence in bleachers, ALL Fans must remain in the stands.
• Avoid engaging with referees or officials before, during, or after the event.

Consequences: Any fan or spectator who fails to follow these expectations will receive one warning. Further violations will result in removal from the venue and potential loss of attendance privileges at future Life School athletic events.

As representatives of Life School, we ask that you lead by example, promote sportsmanship, and model positive behavior for our student-athletes. As a Texas Way school district, we are committed to improving sportsmanship, reducing ejections, and fostering strong relationships among coaches, officials, athletes, and spectators.

We encourage our entire Life School community—including coaches, players, parents, fans, faculty, and staff—to join us in supporting this important initiative. Together, we can elevate respect for the game, create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere, and make Life School a premier venue for competition in Texas.
